Samuel Thompson and his new wife Isabella Robinson married in May 1851 just prior to leaving Monacana(or Moneycannon) and Donemana, in the Parish of Donaghady, County Tyrone, Ireland, arriving in Sydney New South Wales, Australia in December of the same year. Their family grew from South Creek, later known as St Marys, Penrith, NSW to cover much of the country. Samuel's family had independently traveled to Minnesota, USA, and contact has been revived and maintained.
This story, as with all family trees, is not a solo effort. Information gathered by one of Samuel and Isabella's great grandaughters in Australia (aged almost 91 now) in the days before computers and online data, together with other family trees, has been combined with current research to present this tree of their descendants.
The American branch is detailed, and I have followed the Australian tree down to my husband's grandfather, John Young Thompson and his siblings and children. For other Australian descendants, see the link to Australian Thompson Tree at Heritage.
A key resource for the American branch is the manuscript "Trail Blazin' Pioneers" compiled by a direct descendant Robert ('Bob') G Moore, PhD, in 1995.
